چکیده

This study investigated the effects of feeding dairy calves starter diets containing 19% or 22% crude protein (CP) content on a dry matter basis and either supplemented not with soybean oil (SBO, 0 vs. 3%, basis) growth performance, digestibility, urinary nitrogen, purine derivatives (PD) excretion. A total 48 female Holstein (mean 39.8 kg body weight) were randomly distributed to experimental in 2 × factorial arrangement treatments. The 4 dietary treatments (1) diet without SBO supplement CP (NSBO-19CP), (2) (NSBO-22CP), (3) 3% (SBO-19CP), (4) (SBO-22CP). Milk value was similarly based constant protocol across had ad libitum access water throughout study. All weaned d 63 age remained until 83 age. Calves lower feed intake average daily gain (ADG) efficiency (FE) but higher fecal score indicating likelihood diarrhea occurrence compared unsupplemented calves. Wither heights, digestibilities organic matter, CP, neutral detergent fiber decreased, ruminal volatile fatty acids tended be reduced, molar proportion butyrate (preweaning) acetate (postweaning) reduced by supplemental SBO. allantoin PD excretion reduced; however, nitrogen increased when amount did affect intake, FE, rate, whereas 22CP improved ADG (tendency), 19CP diets. ADG, nutrient fermentation affected interaction between level; hip height that received SBO-22CP than those fed SBO-19CP In conclusion, our conditions, could recommended for Furthermore, findings indicate has negative performance more attributed reducing acid concentration rather because limitation metabolizable supply intestinal amino availability. Therefore, results is viable strategy compensate supplementation

Interaction effect of starter physical form and alfalfa hay on growth performance, ruminal fermentation, and blood metabolites in Holstein calves

The present study was conducted to evaluate the effects of physical form of starter and alfalfa hay (AH) provision on growth performance, ruminal fermentation, and blood metabolites of Holstein dairy calves. Forty-four 3d-old Holstein dairy calves with a mean starting BW of 39.9 ± 1.1 kg were used in a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement. The factors were dietary forage level (0 or 150 g kg-1</sup...

Effects of Feeding Levels of Starter on Weaning Age, Performance, Nutrient Digestibility and Health Parameters in Holstein Dairy Calves

To evaluate the effects of feeding four different levels of starter in male Holstein dairy calves, a completely randomized study was conducted, using 28 calves with initial body weight of 40.5±2.4 kg. The animals were fed iso-nitrogenous starter and were weaned when they consumed 350, 500, 650 and 800 g/d of starter for 3 d consecutively. Starter and water were available ad-libitum throughout t...

Sodium bicarbonate and yeast culture effects on ruminal fermentation, growth, and intake in dairy calves.

Sodium bicarbonate and yeast culture effects on ruminal fermentation, intake, and growth were evaluated in young calves. In trail 1, nine ruminally cannulated Holstein calves averaging 12 wk of age were fed control starter (17% CP) or starters containing 3% sodium bicarbonate or .2% yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) culture in a 3 x 3 Latin square. Calves were fed for ad libitum consumption for ...

The Effect of Soybean Meal Heating Time on the in vitro Digestibility and Ruminal Fermentation Profile

The aim of this study was to determine the most optimal heating time in protection of protein rich feedstuff on digestibility and in vitro ruminal fermentation profile. Proteinous feedstuffs used in this study is soybean meal (Glycine max). This study is designed using one way ANOVA, with five treatments of heating time (T0 (control)= unheated, T1= 10 min, T2= 20 min, T3= 30 m...
